Do you want to become the next Paula Radcliffe, Alistair Brownlee or just become a Puma?
On 13th April 2016 Northowram Pumas Running Club launched it’s juniors section.
Who is the club for?
Our Juniors running club is open to anyone between the ages of 7 and 18.
Children need to be in School year 2 in April to be old enough to join the club.
As our sessions will run throughout the year (except school holidays) we feel this is the most appropriate age as during the winter months we’re running in the dark.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or someone who has run before; our coaching team will tailor activities to your ability.
What does it involve?
Each week there’ll be a variety of training session to improve your running, these will include:
- Building strength and stamina
- Working on running techniques
- Running related games
- Having fun
You’ll be training with a qualified coach and coaching assistants, between them they have a lot of years and many many miles under their belts. Everyone on the coaching team is 100% committed to making sure you receive quality support and coaching.
With a mixture of activities that include time on the playing field mixed with on/off road running away from the sports club. There’ll also be a few opportunities to put your new found running skills to the test in some runs organised by the Pumas.
Do I need anything?
Because this is England, and we’ll be training outside, you’ll need to come prepared!
So remember to bring:
- A waterproof jacket
- Suitable trainers
- Hats and gloves (if it’s especially chilly!)
- From September – Hi Viz clothing (head torches and flashing arm bands would be an advantage)
Running can be thirsty work, so we’d also recommend bringing a drink with you.
Where and when is it?
The sessions will be held at Northowram Community Sports & Activity club:
Sessions will run every Wednesday from 5pm to 6pm.
How much does it cost?
Our membership year runs from the start of April to the end of March.
Our membership fees for 2019/20 are:
- £25 for juniors
- £10 for juniors if their parents are members of the club
